Release 16.12 - 2026-10-02#
Note
In this release, we do not provide Mroonga packages for Debian trixie for MySQL 8.4 and 9.7. Currently, the Mroonga packages for Debian trixie cannot be installed with MySQL 8.4 and 9.7 due to a dependency issue. For details, refer to https://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=120697. We will provide them again when this issue is resolved upstream.
Improvements#
MariaDB 12.3 is now supported in this release#
Dropped support for the following RDBMSs#
They have reached EOL.
MariaDB 10.6 for AlmaLinux 8,9
MariaDB 10.6 for Ubuntu 22.04
Percona Server 8.0 for AlmaLinux 8,9
Building Mroonga from source with MariaDB now requires a C++17-compatible compiler#
Fixes#
Fixed a buffer overflow with long mroonga_database_path_prefix#
[MDEV-41287][Reported by Yuelin Wang]
Setting a path that was too long in mroonga_database_path_prefix could cause a buffer overflow.
Fixed automatic creation of database directories for absolute mroonga_database_path_prefix#
The database directory could not be created automatically when an absolute path, such as “/var/lib/mroonga/”, was set for mroonga_database_path_prefix.
Fixed a heap buffer overflow on escaped string in table/index COMMENT parameter#
[MDEV-41285][Reported by Alice Sherepa][Found by Yuelin Wang]
Setting a escaped string such as “\x” in the COMMENT parameter could cause a heap overflow.
For example, the following SQL caused a heap buffer overflow:
CREATE TABLE t1 (c INT) ENGINE=Mroonga COMMENT='engine "InnoDB\\x"';
Fixed double processing of escape characters in index COMMENT parameters#
Escape characters were processed twice when set in index COMMENT parameters. For example:
“Token\Delimit” was parsed as “TokenDDelimit”
“x\ny” was parsed as “x”, a newline and “ny”
“TokenNgram(“loose_symbol”, true)” was parsed as “TokenNgram(” because the escaped “. Parameters after it were also ignored.
